About A Day of Grace The idea for A Day of Grace came out of a wish. I think we have all pondered the old question of if you had just one wish what would you wish for. Well, I was thinking about that one day and though it sounds idealistic (which I proudly admit to being) the one wish that I found I really would want to come true was for everyone in the world for just one day to live in the absolute bliss of love, love of self, love of fellow man, love of all. I have had moments of feeling that bliss in my writing or meditation and I wished that just for one day everyone could feel it together. I was absolutely certain that after even one day of all of mankind living in that feeling then it would be difficult for us to all go back to our feelings of resentment or hatred or anger or any negative feelings. And if it was just a little bit harder to go back to feeling negative feelings toward ourselves and each other I truly believed that could begin to change everything. That was a couple years ago. You see, I saw it as a wish, and since I didn’t have a genie in a lamp I didn’t see it as anything I could make happen. Then in October of 2005 I began writing about the topic of Grace, a subject that honestly I had never been all that clear on before. Yet suddenly here I was writing poetry and articles and agreements about Grace. The first thing that had to come out of that for me was a definition that made sense to me about what Grace is, for I had never found one that I could truly understand. Through my writing came this definition: What is Grace? Grace is the moment of knowing your heart. That Grace flows through your heart and sets love in motion. Grace is love in motion, love in action. As I wrote more about Grace I realized that Grace is that feeling of bliss that I had wished for. Then one day I wrote something called A Day of Grace and all the pieces came together. It was not something I needed to find a genie to wish for; it was something I could do. I could be Grace. In fact I realized that Grace is my natural state of being. I believe that we are each a reservoir of Grace (like a reservoir, replenished from above), but the Grace is dammed up by our fears and doubts. In that moment of knowing our hearts, our souls, our divinity, we break down the dam and allow Grace to flow freely from us. I realized that I could let Grace flow through me to set love in motion. I could do it. But it’s a feeling that needs to be shared. I am just one small person on this vast planet but if I could share the idea with others maybe they could then share it with people they knew and then the idea could grow and the feeling could grow. So that is the purpose of this website, to share the idea of A Day of Grace. To share the idea that truly knowing our hearts means finding in our hearts the truth of who we are. Finding in our hearts the source of who we are. Are we what society and our roles in society define us as; a mother, father, co-worker, supervisor, friend, sister, brother, daughter, son, a success, a failure? Or are we something more than that? Only you can say who you truly are underneath all the labels and roles that you take on. That is what A Day of Grace is about, taking one day to give the gift of Grace to yourself, your true self and to all others and so to set love in motion in your life. It’s about taking the time to truly look at yourself for the Divinity that lies within you. Then surely if you can see that Divinity within yourself you will be more likely to see it in others. For one day we can give the gift of recognition to ourselves and to each other. Imagine the joy of having someone see you not for what you do or who you are to them, but for who you are within. Then imagine the joy of giving that same gift to someone else. What can you do? * Celebrate A Day of Grace on October 5, 2007, and each day until then, by recognizing and celebrating the Divinity within yourself and others. * Print out and sign The Agreement to Live in Grace. It is simply a reminder, an agreement with yourself. (I signed it on one of my worst days figuring if I could sign it then, on a day when I could not feel Grace, then maybe there was truly hope for Grace to move in my life.) * Share the idea of A Day of Grace with your family, friends, spiritual community, neighbors, etc. * Email me. I would love to hear your thoughts on A Day of Grace and any suggestions you have on how to share the idea in your community.. I hope for you that Grace moves in your life. Let's start by sharing A Day of Grace with the belief that one day all of our days will be lived in Grace.
